  • A not-so-fun fact about living in Costa Rica... (it's not all magical sunsets + fun waves!)

    June 01, 2018 2 min read

Want to know a not-so-fun fact about living in Costa Rica???

Every year, the power company cuts power in the Tamarindo area for half of the day so they can do maintenance on the power lines and cut down surrounding vegetation. And last Thursday was that day — no power from 6AM-12PM...or so they told us. In total Pura Vida fashion, the power company cut power on the dot at 6AM, but didn't turn the power on until almost 3PM.

I totally understand and appreciate the pro-activeness of the power company maintaining the power lines, but only in Costa Rica does the power need to be completely shut off for six plus hours to do the work! And, I seriously think the power company knew exactly which day last week I needed power most to get work done 🙈🙈🙈🙈!

But, you know what they say - - when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

And in this case, when life gave me no electricity, I got to have an unexpected beach day!  Thanks to this impromptu beach day,

    1. I surfed for almost two hours in the morning 🏄‍♀️

    2. Took a stroll on the beach with Gidget 🐕 (she was super stoked about our mid-morning walk!),

    3. Had a great brainstorming business strategy session with no dinging phone or email interruptions,

    4. Took my drone for a spin 📷🌴,

    6.
All this beach fun made me wonder if the power should go out more often during the day 🤔....until I had one fun day (insert sarcasm) the following day playing catch up!

P.S. You asked for it and by popular demand, this stunning palm tree sunset sky called “Summer Nights” is now ready for ya! Head on over to The Sunset Shop to bring home sunset magic in your casa too!!
