Back before it was love at first wipeout with surfing, basketball was my first boyfriend. It took me under it's arms and carried me from my awkward early teen years (one day I'll show you the photos!) and gave me the confidence to grow and wildy dream.
It taught me the value of hard work and grit.
It showed me the highs of glory, and it showed me the pain of defeat.
And most of all, it taught me that in order to get to the summit of a championship game or college athletic scholarship, there was a journey before it - - a journey of countless hours in the gym, thousands of shots in front of the hoop (thanks mom + dad), rehabbing injuries, and team bonding.
So how fitting that my first boyfriend chimed in this morning with the wise words of Michael Jordan -- just when I needed a gentle reminder + encouragement to keep doing me,
"It's about knowing where you're going, not forgetting where you started. About having the courage to fail, not breaking when you're broken, taking everything that you've been given, and making something better. It's about work before glory. And what's inside of you. It's doing what they said you can't. It's not about the shoes, it's about what you do in them. It's about being who you were born to be."
Inhale. Exhale.
I got this. You've got this. We've got this. And if you need a cheerleader in your corner, I can't wait to give ya a 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 and cheer you on. Let's rock this life, together! #FelizFriday amigo 🤙🏻.
