Did you know sunsets are good for your health? Gidget the Chihuhua enjoying sunset from the lookout in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Photographed by Kristen M. Brown, Samba to the Sea for The Sunset Shop.

The sun rises and sets every single day all around the world. Whether the sun simply passes over the horizon or the sky turns an intense shade of red and light blue, did you know that observing this beautiful gift from Mother Nature is beneficial for your mental AND physical health?!?! Nope, I’m not pulling your arm! There are multiple studies and research that all support incorporating sunsets into your daily life - - how cool is that?

"According to research by psychological scientists of Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Minnesota Carlson School of Management, the studies found that jaw-dropping moments [like breathtaking sunsets 🌅 ] made participants feel like they had more time available and helped them more patient, less materialistic, and more willing to volunteer time to help others." – Science Daily

Nope, the view from up here ain’t too shabby. Gidget (my adorable Chihuahua and #sunsetchaser assistant) experiencing what the view is like a little higher up than one foot.

In other words, by witnessing the beauty and awe of the sunset, you can slow down your perception of time. Can I get a heck yea?!?!

“Nature is fuel for the soul. Often when we feel depleted we reach for a cup of coffee, but research suggests a better way to get energized is to connect with nature.” - Richard Ryan, Ph.D
