When life gives you lemons...

What's one of your wins for this past week?
Huh? What do I mean by that? OK, let me elaborate... :)
With the daily ups and downs of the Coronacoaster, about two months ago I started to write down one "win" for the day in my daily planner.
Some days my win was simply doing my workout or going to watch sunset with Gidget — things I normally do everyday. Other days, my wins have been unexpected — a big print order for The Sunset Shop or finding a rainbow arching through the sky. And no matter how big or small the win for the day, each win deserves to be celebrated.⠀
Most importantly, when life gives you lemons and you can't go back to Costa Rica just yet, you turn those lemons into a win and make one delicious glass of lemonade just like this...⠀

How so???
You see, for the past couple of years, I’ve been dreaming of photographing this American flag hanging from the lighthouse in Tybee Island on Independence Day. But normally, Gidget and I are in Costa Rica for July 4th. This year though, 3+ months after leaving CR thanks to the ‘Rona, Gidget and I still are in the US.

So on July 4th, Gidget and I decided to take our lemons of not being able to go back to CR and whip up a batch of lemonade.⠀

We woke up at 5AM and drove 45 minutes to chase the sunrise at Tybee beach, and most importantly, photograph the flag hanging from the lighthouse. The morning was gorgeous, with a dreamy pastel sky and the sand dunes glowing in the early morning sun.
Except for one minor detail was missing...
The flag wasn’t hanging from the lighthouse! More lemons!!!⠀

However, there still was one more opportunity to photograph the lighthouse during golden hour, sunset that evening, and I was crossing all my fingers + toes that whoever was in charge of flag duties was going to hang it! So twelve hours later, Gidget and I drove back out to the beach.
As we got our first glance of the lighthouse, I gasped...there she was, dancing in the sea breeze and shimmering in the late afternoon sun! ⠀

A perfect glass of lemonade...and now an overflowing pitcher for all of us! Because I'm releasing not one, but FOUR captures from this magical afternoon because I just couldn't decide on one!
