One of the most common questions I'm asked is my journey of becoming a photographer.
How did I get started?
Did I study photography in school?
Why photography?
How long have I been photographing?
So how about we take it back, answer your questions, and chat about how my love of photography started?
Ready?
Let's go...vamonos!
It all started with three of my family members who worked for PanAm! ✈️
My grandfather started the family history at PanAm as pilot. Then my father worked on the business operations side for PanAm after graduating college, which is how he met my mother. My mom had just graduated college as well + had started working as a stewardess (flight attendant) for PanAm.
They all transitioned to different employers before I was born, but PanAm remained a part of them.
As a kid, one of my favorite things to do was listen to their PanAm travel stories and to look at the photos they'd captured of their worldwide travels...especially during family slide show night. 📽🎞
Cue the popcorn, white bed sheet hanging on the wall acting as a screen, and that humming sound of the slide projector!
And this is where and how my love of photography started!
Those photos had a mesmerizing affect, inviting me in to experience those moments + places with them during their adventures working at PanAm.
Thanks to those slide show nights, I truly understand how special the experience of viewing travel photography is. It's an invitation to dream, to imagine, to getaway, to bring back memories...or to inspire to set off on an adventure to create new ones.
And because of those slide show nights, from the bottom of my heart, I’m beyond grateful that you invite my photos into your inboxes every #FelizFriday and my prints to hang in your homes.
Thank you - mil gracias. 💕
